Peter COOMBE Obituary

COOMBE, Peter Trevor. On 21st March 2025, at Hetherington House, Waihi. Loved son of the late Trevor and Shirley. Brother and brother in law of Paul, Tony and Erin, David and Emily. Adored father and father in Law of Nicola, Brittany and Tama and Grandad of Jazhel, Unique, Sephora, Zelah, Alethea, Tarquin, Nevaeh, Azariah, Hero and Conan. Great Granddad of Waimirirangi. A private family farewell will be held for Peter.

My deepest condolences to Pete´s daughters and brothers and extended family at this sad time.
I first met Pete in Auckland when we were both around 12 years old and took an instant like to him, we became firm friends. Pete moved to Gisborne a few years later, then I followed the same winding path through the Waioeka Gorge to the little surf town, where the much loved Pete shared the waves and introduced me to the local surfing community. Many a great time we had surfing our guts out under the burning sun of Indian summers or the freezing offshore winds of bleak winter, laughing through it all. Everyone loved Pete, with his good natured outlook and infectious sense of humour.
I´ll always remember Pete as the tall, strapping and handsome guy he was, great surfer and excellent tennis player, a best friend and just an awesome guy to be around.
