So sad to hear of Peter's passing.
I started working with Peter during my time at Industrial Research Limited in around 2004-2005 as a young graduate engineer. While I was there we worked together on a few very interesting optical projects for the KiwiStar team and we kept in touch after I left to work for a start-up business.
We kept in touch and I collaborated with Peter and the KiwiStar optics team several times over the next 15 years or so and it was always a happy and interesting time when I was working with him.
Peter had such an amazing breadth of knowledge and had a really brilliant ability to communicate with scientists and engineers of different fields. The way he pulled a project team together and made it succeed was something I've seldom seen in my career and he's the sort of person we could certainly do with more of.
I'll miss Peter's warm, jovial nature and I'll carry many happy memories of him with me. He was a formative figure in my professional career and one whom I count myself so lucky to have learned from.
To this day there's a note on the wall of my office: "Connor's First Law - For every dollar spent making the prototype, you will spend ten to get it to market". Wise words Peter. I'll miss you.
