Peter CAULTON Obituary

I joined the Venturers in Christchurch between 1963/1966 playing saxophone and had the best time of my life with this group, with gigs at dances most Saturday nights and other gigs throughout Canterbury. Peter would often join me in the Kashmir Quartet later and when he was available. Peter was not only a good musician but a man you would love to be around. When the Venturers moved to a permanent gig at Surf City in Christchurch, I moved to a permanent gig at Shirley Lodge for the very popular Dine and Dances on Saturday nights with the Laurie Searle Trio in the days before 10.00pm closing times for bars.

Sure do Miss him

Here one year after Peter Caulton passed away I can still get tears in my eyes, when I hear his music and know we will never see him perform again , as chairman af a little Country Music Club here in my town Skive, Denmark Im having a little memory evening for Peter Caulton Friday 15. March , where we will play his music , and I tell some of my knowledge of Peter and show my pictures of his last show in Denmark , before he left for New Zealand in 2014, and in the near future Il visit New Zealand and perhaps meet some of his family.

I'm sad to see you go. I was privileged to see you perform many times and call you a personal friend. Peter invited me and a friend to eat chilli with him and a neighbor before he left Germany to go to NZ. RIP, my friend.

So glad to have met you all those years ago. Used to have great times coming to see the band at Spurs and other venues, taking lots if memorable photos that I have cherished and still have. Will miss you heaps Peter. Keep entertaining wherever you are. Xx Rip.

I met Peter in Adelaide in the 70's and we struck up a great friendship with Peter Bull from The Troupadours (a great Perth band) when we all worked at The Old Lion Hotel and in later years via Facebook got in touch and and shared many fond memories. RIP dear Peter, you will be forever in my thoughts. My special thoughts to Robyn and Bea and all his family PS we will never forget you and your amazing voice.

Sad to hear that my good friend has passed, Ive arranged concert with Peter hear in Denmark, and we have had many hours of talking and listen to music, Ill miss him

we attended a gig last year first time we had ever seen peter perform we were blown away by his talent we rate him along side johnny cash and we play his cds some part of every day and are very sad he has passed on we were so looking forward to seeing him again

A sad day for New Zealand music. We had a lovely jam when you stayed with Chrissy & me. I hope we can do it again in the afterlife. (I am thinking "The Sounds of Silence.) Until then old friend.

I worked with Peter many years ago when we were youngsters in NZ Customs Dept.We were good friends and socialised regularly. A very gifted, witty and generous man.RIP Peter.

Farewell Peter, my friend of many years ago, who helped me through my home-sickness as a young immigrant. While working together at the Pines, in Wellington, you made me laugh and witness many sunrises when you used to drop me off at home after another long night. You were "The Singer" and I "The Waitress". Thanks for your support in those days!

Knew Peter in the Shez Paree days. Will be missed
