Paul VON ZALINSKI Obituary

VON ZALINSKI, Paul William (Vonny). On June 19, 2022 Born January 29, 1943 Renowned sailor, surf lifesaver and pioneer surfer, Paul von Zalinski took his final journey on Sunday 19 June at Auckland Hospital after a sudden deterioration of a health issue he'd bravely and uncomplainingly endured for many years. Much loved son of the late Fritz and Rona von Zalinski, brother of Val Alison, Jose von Zalinski and the late Dagmar Tennant. Proud father and father-in-law of Lydia and Keith Lin and Rachel von Zalinski, and grandfather of Eleanor Lin. Loving partner of Heather Whiteman and good friend of her son Mark. Greatly admired uncle of Stevan and Paul Blomfield and their extended families. According to Paul's wishes he will have a private family cremation and ceremony. Correspondence can be sent to Vonny c/o CMB17 Piha, Auckland 0646 The family would like to thank St Johns Ambulance and Auckland Hospital Emergency Department for their compassionate care.

I'm so glad I had a last meeting with Paul recently, and got to know Heather, after meeting Rachel,Lydia and family during an earlier visit to Piha with Val. Paul was an icon in the family.

VON ZALINSKI, Paul (Vonny). Passed away on June 19, 2022. Beloved crew member of Ceramco New Zealand KZ4400 Vonny produced some great meals in terrible conditions, and some terrible meals in great conditions. He will be sadly missed by all.
