VON ZALINSKI, Paul William (Vonny). On June 19, 2022 Born January 29, 1943 Renowned sailor, surf lifesaver and pioneer surfer, Paul von Zalinski took his final journey on Sunday 19 June at Auckland Hospital after a sudden deterioration of a health issue he'd bravely and uncomplainingly endured for many years. Much loved son of the late Fritz and Rona von Zalinski, brother of Val Alison, Jose von Zalinski and the late Dagmar Tennant. Proud father and father-in-law of Lydia and Keith Lin and Rachel von Zalinski, and grandfather of Eleanor Lin. Loving partner of Heather Whiteman and good friend of her son Mark. Greatly admired uncle of Stevan and Paul Blomfield and their extended families. According to Paul's wishes he will have a private family cremation and ceremony.
