Patrick GAINES Obituary

GAINES, Patrick John (MBE). Passed away peacefully at Bupa Hospital Care, Blockhouse Bay on 9 June 2024. Much loved husband of the late June. Loved dad and father-in-law of Christine and Tom Molloy, the late Karen Dunick, Paul and Anne Gaines and Tony Gaines. Grandad, great-grandad and great-great-grandad to 44 grandchildren. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Mark's Church, 334 Pakuranga Road, Pakuranga on Thursday 13 June 2024 at 11.00 am. Grateful thanks to dad's private carers, Mel and Reeta, and staff at Bupa Hospital Ward, Blockhouse Bay for their care of dad.

I was a South Auckland Police dog handler, stationed at Otahuhu when Pat was the boss and I had a lot of respect for him as a senior police officer and a good man. Always approachable and a good boss.

I am Barry Murphy´s daughter in NZ and was so sorry to read Pat had passed away. Pat and Barry were best friends for many years and Barry always spoke highly of Pat.

Sympathy to you all as you celebrate Pat's life. He was such a generous man and I well remember with great thanks when he came to Samoa to help rebuikd after the cyclone there in the 90s. Our prayers are with you.
