Owen was a respected and faithful member of Mount Albert Presbyterian Church. This was reflected when he was ordained as an Elder in 2002. He became Session Clerk in 2004 and remained there until 2010.

Owen was an eloquent man with natural leadership skills who related to people of all ages and cultures. This was always evident in his pastoral visiting very faithful with our elderly parishioners and shut-ins. His visits were reported as very encouraging and uplifting.
He was a likeable man, a man you could always talk to and know that he would listen. He was always strong in his Christian Faith, and let his principles be known.
Owen was a man of humour In our Parish and as one person said, his favourite saying was Too much of a good thing is never enough

Owen will be missed by all who knew him.

Manuia lou Malaga Uncle Owen. You were always such a gentleman with us and always made time to talk to us. You had a beautiful smile that made your eyes light up and a hearty laugh. It was obvious and evident to all how much you adored each of your gorgeous girls, Aunty Kima, Samantha, Charlotte and Emma -Jane and the rest of your precious aiga who were your pride and joy. We are all lifting each of our precious aiga up in prayer. Praying God will uphold you all Aunty Kima, Samantha, Charlotte, Emma-Jane and family in the palm of His hands and be your strength, hope peace and Tower of refuge. I will always remember when you stayed with us in Wanganui Avenue back in the '70s. .how I always felt safe with you, Lee, Paul and Obed around as young as I was. Your louder-then-life laugh and then the admiration we felt when you became a Police Officer. How you stopped our car travelling down Westend Rd which now seems eons ago, and the relief we felt when you lifted your cap to show us who it was, followed by the immense laughter still makes me smile today.The respect you demanded when you spoke on behalf of our aiga at gatherings will be something I will always marvel at.

STANLEY, Owen David Passed away on 28 October 2015. You made a huge positive difference to your adopted country brother. Thank you for your tireless work and your leadership to the wider family and the Samoan community. We are all very proud of you. My only regret is I thought we would spend time together in retirement. With love and respect Jenny, Clem, Kylie, Pippa, Anya, Georgia and Yanni.
