What a shock to be at another funeral last week and hear that one of my closest primary school friends has left us. It is amazing how well I can still remember those times 35 years ago. Always fun, always competing. Whether on the field or trying to win the dictionary game and a chance to snareMr Dixon's $20. Ollie was warm and welcoming and his family home was always a wonderful place to be. Although we have not seen each other for a long time I am sad he is no longer here to shine his light on his family, friends and all in his world. Take care Ollie.

So sorry to hear of Ollie's passing and our love and sympathies are with you all. In a life that ended far too quickly Ollie made a difference and his enthusiasm and willingness to help will be remembered by many.

I knew Olly growing up. I will always remember the brilliant times we had with Olly. We once captured a rat and fed it on cheese in his garage. And how Olly was the only guy who had a signet swan for a pet! How he would practise with his air rifle in the backyard. It was like living in a farm in the suburbs. He was hard case and always forgiving if we were pratting around. At uni he was a super intelligent young man and had a brain the size of a planet. He will be missed by many, and my condolences especially to Caitlin, the kids, Liz, Cath and family. I'm sorry he was taken so early. He will not be forgotten.
Go well my friend.

Arohamai Ollie moe mai moe mai ra e Rangatira. Condolences to Dr Gill, nga tamariki raua ko whanau katoa. Ollie was a stalwart for our children in Te Rohe Potae regarding their engagement in soccer and sport in general. Ollie's love of soccer shone through his leadership within the North King Country Football Association where he ensured the club continued along with the support of other key influencers; Dede Downes (sport Waikato), Plendy, Mr Miller, and the hands of many parents and school leaders. Our tamariki continue to have the opportunity to play soccer every weekend during the season, because of Ollie's input into the process of maintaining the committee's structure and processes along with, key influencers continued dedication and support. Thank you Ollie for your commitment to the NKCJF committee while I was on board, and the arohatanga you showed all tamariki as they inspired to play a fair game of football. Us and our tamariki will miss you dearly. Gone but not forgotten. Nga whanau katoa o Te Rohe Potae.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to know Ollie well. From the few times we met, I remember an infectious energy and a warm and inviting smile. The world needs more like Ollie! Love and condolences to Caitlin and the kids, and the wider Mitchell and Gill families.
