To June and family, I came upon Normans death notice by accident. I had been looking for his whereabouts for some time, asking family members etc, but to no avail. So was somewhat taken aback when I typed in his name and the notice came up. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but as others are saying it was a life well lived and his time had come. Its just difficult for those left behind. His interest latterly in writing poetry often took me by surprise, and the poem he wrote for Mark's memorial I will always remember. Take care June thinking of you Jean Kearney

Our sincere sympathies to June, Norman's children & grandchildren, and Trevor.
The mention of Inspector Kearney brought back memories. My recollection is that his teachers had wanted him to go to university, but Norman knew exactly what he wanted to do - become a policeman.
We listened goggle-eyed as our young policeman cousin told us about the Chinese opium dens in Grey's Ave!
A life well lived.
Love from Sue, Jan, Kay and our whanau

Born March 31, 1940. Passed away on January 13, 2023. Inspector Norman Kearney, Dad you battled away stoically and stubbornly for a long time, and are now at peace. A wonderful and treasured Dad to Nick, Audrey, Jeremy and the late Simon, and a loving poppa to Amber and Jamie. Dad, we won't forget the adventures we had, and the stories you told. Love from Nick, Audrey, Jeremy, Simon and their families.
