Norman GEARY Obituary

GEARY, Norman Michael Thomas, CBE. On 12 February 2026 passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at Auckland Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Aged 87. Beloved husband of (the late) Marianne Geary for 57 years. Dearly loved father of Christine, Andrea and Fiona and much-loved father-in-law of Neville. Adored grandfather of Alexandra, Sebastian and Genevieve. Loved brother of Ian and Diane and (the late) Colin and Graham Geary. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA at www.spca.nz/ donate. A service to celebrate Norman's life will be held at St Mary's-in-Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, on Monday 23rd February 2026 at 2.30pm.

Thinking of the Geary family at this time of loss and sorrow, please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
I worked with Norman as the inaugural Chairman of the
New Zealand Tourism Board.
His leadership was as inspiring as it was stellar. He was smart and strategic, led from the front and took us all with him.
Norman had a unique and infectious sense of presence and humour. His gracious and much-loved wife of 57 years, Marianne, was an ever-supportive gift to us all.
An outstanding businessman, a role model and a loyal friend. Norman was a true Patriot.
RIP Chairman, now on the wings of Angels for Eternal Glory.
