Nora MINUS Obituary

MINUS, Nora Huia (nee Bennett). It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Nora on Saturday 19 October 2013. Nora was the sole surviving grand-daughter of Matira and Henry Bennett. Unfortunately she did not live to attend the Bennett Reunion to be held Labour weekend. She was the twin daughter of Charles and Gerty Bennett and the sole surviving member of that family. Nora was the dearly loved wife of the late Fred Minus and much loved and admired mother and mother in-law of Noeleen and Cyril Guillard (Bowentown), Sonia and George Butcher (Pukekohe), and Judy and Brian Small (Auckland). Nana of Gregory and Michelle, Brian and Jacqui, and David and Jo. Great Nana Minus of Rachel. She was a very special aunt and great aunt to all her many nieces and nephews and Mum Nora to so many of our friends. Her late brothers were Gerald, Chum, Hui and Darcy Bennett and her late sisters were Cora Judd and her dearly loved twin sister, the late Eileen Brynildsen. She was in her 95th year and had led a busy, enriched life filled with hard work, baking and gardening and her special love of singing the old songs. Her funeral service will be at the Ngati Kahu Marae, Wairoa, State Highway 2,Tauranga on Monday 21 October at 1pm followed by burial at the Taumatawhioi Urupa, Wairoa, Tauranga. "It's just a little street where old friends meet, I'd love to wander back some day". Rest peacefully dear Mum. Cherished memories of you will live on in the hearts of all who loved you. Our very grateful thanks to the wonderful staff at Athenree Rest Home and Hospital who welcomed her into their extended family and gave her such devoted care and attention in her short stay there.
