It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of a fellow New Zealander Nolan Parker and respected antique tool collector. Though I came to know of him only through his daughter´s posts and the collection he so lovingly built, it was immediately clear that he was a man of great passion, craftsmanship, and generosity. His dedication to preserving the history of tools - the stories they hold, the hands they once served, and the craft traditions they represent - speaks to a life lived with curiosity, care, and respect for the past.
As a Kiwi living abroad, I felt a connection not only to the remarkable collection he assembled, but also to the family values reflected in how proudly his daughter shared his legacy. It was an honour to support her efforts and acquire a few of his cherished pieces, which I will always treat with the reverence they deserve.
To his family, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May you find comfort in knowing that his passion continues to inspire collectors and craftspeople far beyond Aotearoa. His legacy will live on in the tools he preserved, the knowledge he shared, and the community he helped enrich.
Aroha nui to you all during emotional time
My deepest love to the family
