Deeply sad to read of the death of Nola. We worked together at DNTV2 many many years ago. Always remember her smile, her humour and her love of life.

Nola was a fierce advocate for the rights of children with regard to their heritage and home languages as key to their identities and sense of wellbeing and belonging, in particular for children from refugee families. She was firm and clear in articulating her insights, and always spoke with courage and conviction. I admired her greatly.

I met Nola when I was working with former refugee families and children in ECE. Nola became a great mentor to me and a wonderful advocate for our families in ECE. We would meet for lunch and Nola would talk about her beautiful grandchildren and what each of them were doing, and her role as playcentre nan and their next challenge ahead. So busy and in so much demand and the energy she had was amazing I remember thinking I hope I am fit and capable when I am her age. We became very good friends solving the world ECE problems, having lovely conversations about our grandchildren. Nola you were such a great advocate for our ECE team and children. You were a great friend who will be forever missed.

So sorry to hear of her passing. Nola was my cousin. I used to visit their farm back in the 1950s? with Mum and dad and remember playing with Nola and Gaynor.

Nola was a valued colleague and co-author. I appreciated her commitment to supporting children's heritage languages, to ECE, to refugees, and to the natural environment. Her contributions will certainly be missed.
