Very surprised and saddened to learn about Nina's death. She was a brilliant talent, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable in her work. Nina taught me and many other colleagues the skills of investigative interviewing and I remember being in awe of her knowledge, drive and commitment. The NZ Police suffered a big loss when Nina left to further her education and academic research in Australia. Undoubtedly Nina's early departure from this world leaves a big hole in so many peoples lives and a loss to our society. My thoughts go out to her family and loved ones. RIP Nina and thank you for making me a better Police officer and interviewer.

Always, always in love with you and proud of you, my Muppey, my Nina Jo. Always loved and adored and gorgeous, in love with you from before birth, and then with huge and overwhelming ecstasy and gratitude at birth. Taking you home, I just never wanted to share you with the world.
Always always hugely grateful to have had you as my gorgeous daughter, with all your love, exuberance and generosity of spirit, gezelligheid. My hugely exceptional, unassuming and talented daughter.
As parents, you give your children two things: you give them roots, and you let them fly'. You were flying, but you'd only just begun soaring You still had so much more to live, to learn, to give.
xxx your Moe, with you always in my heart xxx

Heartfelt condolences to Trish, Bert, Julia, Rick and all the family Nina has touched so many people in her all too short life. I knew Nina since Circe soccer days in Auckland from around 1994 and we have kept in contact despite living in different countries. Whenever we caught up more recently when she was in Wellington it was as if we had only last seen each other the month before. I remember the fun times in the 1990s partying at Arthur St and Formby Ave, the dress-up dinners (Nina was always a sport and never bunked out of dressing up), the numerous games of soccer followed by a beer in the clubhouse and the many soul searching walks at Piha, Karekare and Bethells beaches. We graduated in the same year from Auckland Uni and had spent the summer painting houses around Auckland (picket fences and fretwork were character building). In 2004 she lived just down the road from me in Brooklyn and I got to know Trish and some gorgeous Burmese cats too. Such an awesome woman, Nina is full of goodness and I can't believe she is no longer with us. Spending time with Nina has made me a better person and my life is so much the richer for having known Nina. Arohanui Nina xx

Thank you Nina for all that you gave to officers of the QPS, you were tireless and selfless in your assistance. I personally had so much respect for you and your expertise, you gave so much and still had so much more to give, your legacy will live one. It is obvious how much you were loved by family and friends and you touched the lives of many people including me with your gentle and friendly nature. It is just so sad.x

My dearest Nina you have and always will be my amazing sister, always so warm and full of light right up until the end. I will never forget your boundless energy and enthusiasm for life, your great care and compassion and inclusiveness for your seemingly endless supply of family and friends, how every occasion you attended was magical and every one you missed was somehow lacking. Through the first decades of our lives, you were not just my sister but one of my most constant friends; I have such wonderful memories of us playing together, going on adventures along the Avondale creek, staging plays in Orua Bay and Piha, bush walks and swimming, visiting relatives and friends across New Zealand and Australia, New Years with olliebollen in Whananaki, living in crazy diverse households at Wolverton St, Parau and Arthur St. I have been so proud of your achievements in sport, school, university, the police, and as an academic researcher. You have done so much in so short a time, but you had so much more you still wanted to do; the world is immeasurably poorer in so many respects for your loss. I love you my little sister and I will miss you forever. xoxox Your only brother Rick

In memory of a gifted academic and lady, who made a difference not only to those she worked with, but to those who benefited from her research. She was a great contributor to knowledge and was tireless in her pursuit of better outcomes for victims. Nina was always more than happy to help and was very much appreciated by her friends within the QPS.
May you be comforted by family and friends at this time.
