I am devastated to hear of Nikki's passing. I always thought being so young she would recover. But I know that's not a given.
I have so much admiration for Nikki's amazing contribution to our country in terms of her Parliamentary role and her ability to appreciate the policies of both sides of the political spectrum despite being a staunch National MP.
My admiration for Nikki extends to her incredible intellectual prowess, her ability to deal with her cancer situation and quietly do what she needed to do to work towards the end of her life.
Similar in calibre to our friend Lucretia Seales.
Rest in Peace Nikki.
You have made a difference. Xx

Nikki and I met years ago. She was a loyal client at my workplace. We became close friends . I never liked politicians but she was special. She cared and she was kind and motivated. We shared texts and coffee and I will forever hold her close to my heart. My love always .

When we hosted the ANZ Regional Conference in Auckland some years ago, for Dress for Success affiliates' leaders from both countries, Nikki Kaye came and spoke at our Opening Reception. She was warm and engaging, funny and well-informed, and clearly interested in our work to help women enter/return to the workforce. The Aussies in particular couldn't get over what an amazing young woman we had in government here - I recall how very impressed they were .... Nikki was the "real deal" whose impact on thousands of people was positive and will remain with them for years to come. For the brief time she was on this planet, Nikki achieved what most people dream of ... to truly make a difference. Rest in peace Nikki - you will live in our hearts forever. Sincere condolences to all of your family.

What an incredible Member of Parliament. It's not easy being a woman and standing up to be counted in the way that many people don't. Sticking to one's principles no matter what other people say and think. We need more people in Parliament to follow Nikki's example. Marlene Rohan

I met Nikki when she was campaigning for the Auckland Central seat, and then later when she supported our digital education initiative. She was an enthusiastic advocate for the causes she loved, and a warm and caring friend to many. A very special person who will be sadly missed.

Kia ora friends and colleagues of Nikki.

My name is Matt Frost and I am a long standing advocate for people with autism. In 2010 I invited various political party spokespeople to a lecture I was giving on education for people with autism. Nikki was the only person to accept. She paid close attention to what I had to say, passed on my insights to the minister of education of the day and continued to work forcefully and constructively for the rights of disabled people and our families even though she knew that many of those people were not of her political orientation. To me the tributes about Nikki are well deserved and she has gone too soon. I wish her whanau peace and comfort.

A friend and I first met Nikki when she visited our digital print business in Parnell. She was printing letters for her first campaign.
We knew then(!) - wow, that young woman´s verve and drive and passion - she´s going to be unstoppable.
And she was lovely. We enjoyed your visits very much Nikki.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends. She was incredible.
