MATTHEWS, Ngarie Doreen. 24th June 1926 â?" 25th July 2022. Loving wife of the late Ron (Romer), and mother of Maurice and Robyn, Julie and David Watkins. Special grandmother (Nga) to 5 grandies, and great-grandmother to 6 great-grandies. The care, friendship, and love given by Jane Mander staff these past 2.5 years has been exceptional, and greatly appreciated. Her passing was peaceful. A service will be held in the chapel of Morris and Morris Funerals (entrance 17 Western Hills Drive) Whau Valley, Whangarei, on Friday, 29th July 2022, at 1:30p.m, followed by a private cremation. Messages to 'The Matthews Family', c/- PO Box 8043, Kensington, Whangarei 0145.

To the Matthews family. Thinking of you all at this sad time. My mother Nola and Ngaire were friends since school and although the oceans separated them they remained friends for life . Nga was always so kind to us. So interested in our lives . I visited her just before Covid kept everyone apart and she still recognised me. Still called me kiddo and still sent her love and prayers to mum. She will forever treasured . XX Vicki Jermyn

So sorry to read this. A fun loving friendly woman. I used to enjoy my chats (& the odd G&T!) with Ngaire and Ron as I walked home from work when they were living in Apirana Ave; such a delightful couple. Hope the best seats at the tennis Grand Slams have been saved for Ngaire.
