Neil MOSS Obituary

Neil Moss was my mathematics teacher at Lytton High. He was one of the best teachers I had the pleasure of being taught by, and retained his sense of humour even when caught using a very small transistor radio in class. It was carefully concealed in my gym slip pocket, and the headphone cable went up under my blazer, through the sleeve and out concealed by hair and hand. I was too inexperienced to realise he could hear it too. He .merely smiled, held out his hand. Wiggling his fingers his only comment was that he was not as green as his name suggested, and to see him after the class ended. Then I learnt my prized possession would not be returned until year's end. A salutary lesson to the whole class as it was the first week of the new school year and the radio was a very new gift. He also had the art of catching our attention and making the aspect he was showing us seem very interesting. He elevated my ability with math's. And I'm forever grateful.

Our sincere condolences at Neil's passing. Although we were a little mis alignned in age, we enjoyed the same birthplace, the same Intermediate and High Schools, plus the same Surf and Rugby Clubs, and you may say we were brothers in law.
I always found Neil to be very sincere and easy to get along with. Always the same positive attitude, and if he had something to say it was worth listening to. The world has need of more like him. Again sincere condolences to all the family, Tom And Anne Boyd

My deepest sympathy to Jackie and family. Neil was a loyal & good friend of John Soundy (deceased Oct 29 2024) & many others at Rolleston House Canterbury University.

He was my Maths teacher at Lytton High school. Condolences to all his family. I have often wondered about him and the positive interest he gave me in a maths
