I knew Myra when I was quite young and would spend my summers with my mother at her childhood summer home in Paihia. Our home was the Hall homestead two doors south of the church on the first beach.
I was just thinking about Myra and decided to look her up and saw that she had passed away earlier this year. The last time I spoke with her would have been about 12 years ago while I was in the Bay of Islands visiting from America, where I have lived for the last 40 years. She told me that she was still coaching swimming and would be in Russell teaching the next day. I wanted to try and see her again but didn´t have a chance. She caught me up on some local news , telling me that Margret O´Day had just recently passed away.
I know how loved she was and especially by my aunts.
I do hope this message gets to someone that it will mean something to.
With love,
Judith Liegeois

To Janine and Whanau We convey our deepest sympathies. Your Mum was a true legend of Opua and I always enjoyed the very occasional chat on the phone usually talking about the history of Opua. Also much appreciated her friendship and taking care of our Mum, Betty. Both born in 1927 and went out in 2022
Much Aroha to you and the Whanau
Regards
