Murdoch HERBERT Obituary

Abbott Family. The greatest doctor ever. Delivered our children and looked after our family for over thirty years.

Our family was saddened to hear this news, Dr Herbert was our family doctor from 1965 until his retirement. He attended the births of all our 8 children at North Shore Hospital and saw us thru many mishaps and mayhem over that time. Even after retirement he would call in and see us at Sunset Road. Along with his faithful nurse Jocelyn, we have many happy memories, and regard Dr Herbert as the true family doctor and friend we will never forget.

Dr Herbert was our family doctor from our arrival to NZ in 1964 till he retired - he was a wonderful, caring and understanding man, and we all thought the world of him. I know my parents dropped in at his home to say hi now and again, after his retirement. So very sorry to hear this sad news.

Dr Herbert --- you simply were the best! The best Dr ever I could have had to deliver my three children followed by the expert family care after this. Yes -- you did go that extra mile --- even known to pop in for a home visit just to check all was OK. My heart goes out to your family right now. You were such a dedicated man who will be sadly missed heaps. RIP.

Dr Herbert , I remember with fondness the years I worked for him, at the surgery on Kitchener Road and he then became my trusted GP for 30 years. A warm man with a wonderful sense of humour, the world will be a poorer place without him. Judy Hyde

What a wonderful & caring Doctor & friend we had in Murdoch. He even did house calls ! How very special is that ? When he delivered our son, after 2 daughters, he thought he should have the privilege of naming him ! We have so often thought of him after his retirement.... so appreciative of his care & hoping he was still able to bash a ball around a tennis court.

Dr Murdoch will be missed by all. he was a wonderful man and I remember him fondly dealing with all my childhood illnesses & crazy accidents. He always made me smile. My heart goes out to his family.

A wonderful gentleman and doctor who made a difference to many. Sorry we are overseas. An old neighbour and friend Bernie and Brenda. You deserve your rest. Condolences to the family.

Fondly remembered for his wonderful and unstinting care of our family until his retirement. His dedication to medicine and his patients was legendary , also memorable are his MGs and pristine white gumboots in the North Shore delivery suite !
