OMG...I read an article in the local rag of the passing of Michelle. I only knew of one Michelle Kawana and I had to find it for myself. I was out of the country at time of her passing. I have fond memories of her- your wife and mother. I went to school with her in H.I.S and H.H.S. Again when she worked at Taranaki Poly. Like TK, a big mihi aroha out to you and your whanau.

Kia ora Campbell and tamariki
I was so shocked when Wharehoka rang me on Saturday morning to say he was attending Michelle's tangi that day. Michelle was an awesome intelligent Maori woman who I will not forget. I have some great memories of her from our school days and during the 90's when we worked together at Taranaki Polytechnic. I cannot believe I will not get the chance to see her again.
A big mihi aroha to you and your whanau. I know Michelle and you have instilled such good values with your tamariki that they will develop into successful people like their mother was

How Fragile Life Is

The flame has flickered for the last time, her soul has been set free. This intelligent, warm, loving person made a difference in this world and we wish Michele a pain free eternity. We remember the last time we saw you, when you honoured Zac on his 21st with a speech followed by a beautiful Maori Waiata and wished Steve and Justine well on their combined wedding day, 13th November 2010. There was hardly a dry eye after your words were spoken. We are all so stunned at you leaving us so soon and we all feel blessed for having known you...E noho r

Dear Campbell,
We haven't seen each other for a long time - a few years ago at my uncle's in Manaia, I think - and correspondence between Michele and I had become very slack. But she and I had a Facebook encounter earlier this year and we promised to catch up next time I'm in Taranaki.
I can't believe that isn't going to happen now.
We were best friends at Hawera Intermediate and then Hawera High School until she left with her family to live in Auckland - and met you!
In early 1985 I had just moved to Central Otago but was really happy to fly to Auckland for your and Michele's wedding. My daughter, Toni (5 then) was a flower girl but my favourite memory is hearing the bridal car arrive while another friend, Nicole Williams, was still doing the final stictches on Michele's wedding gown! But hey, the right thread was obviously chosen . . .
May the love you and Michele shared - and built during the past 25 years - keep your family strong and close.
Love and best wishes to you, Kirsten, Tiffany, Campbell-Kirk, Dylan and McKenzie,
