When I first met Michele, she was in her school uniform, with that cheeky smile and willingness to try anything. We went roller skating a few times in Hamilton with her siblings, and once on the way home, Michele persuaded me to let her drive. Well, I never knew my VW Beetle could corner on 2 wheels, with Michele laughing her head off, and everyone else screaming in terror. Never again, the driving instructors earned every penny with Michele!
I lost touch over the years, as I had my own family, but whenever we reconnected, it was as though I'd seen Michele and her family just recently, such a warm welcome, and in my eyes, just the same cheeky schoolgirl.
I last saw Michele at Joy's 80th birthday, zipping around on her knee scooter after breaking her leg, with a smile that lit up the room. Now, 2 years later, her light has gone out, with those who knew and loved her in shock. Rest well, dear Michele. Love from Lindi
