Micheal DIAMONDARAS Obituary

DIAMONDARAS, Micheal (Mitch). Born 27th of October 1941, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his whanau on the 30th of August 2025. Born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to Edna- May (Deceased) and Stavros (Deceased) Diamondaras. Micheal had a rich ancestry of both Greek and Australian heritage. During a holiday in Aotearoa in 1962, Micheal met and soon married Maria of Tapuika Ngati Marukūkere, commencing the beginning of his long life in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Micheal soon became a vital and beloved member of Tapuika te Iwi, and precious son in-law to Te Oke Wharererauhe te Kura (Deceased) and Richard (Riki) Dinsdale (Deceased). Loving husband of Maria Diamondaras, beloved Father of Edna-May (Deceased), Constance, Stavros (Deceased) and Irene Diamondaras. Adored Koro to Nicola, Shantelle, Waimirirangi and Jarren. Precious Great-grandfather of Lorenzo Diamondaras. Micheal will be at home with his whānau until Wednesday afternoon the 3rd of September where he will embark on his final journey to his marae Tia. Service will take place on Thursday the 4th of September followed by burial at Te Eka o te rangi urupā followed by hakari (lunch) at Hineota, Tia Marae.
