A dear friend from Otahuhu college, and the great band the Dark ages...at peace ..xx Glenda

Mick was in my class at Otahuhu College along with Clive Coulson. In 1965 they formed the alternative band Dark Ages. Mick was on lead guitar and Clive was the lead singer. Clive went on to be road manager for Led Zeppelin. I used to love going and watching Dark Ages. They had a real cult following. I now run a DJ company Going Bananas and would love to play their single Tomorrows going to be another day but pretty hard to find. Mick was a top guy.

Very sad to hear the news. It was great to have had the pleasure to have shared the corridors of the 3rd floor of HSB with Mick, and will always treasure the memory of a 6:30am harmonica lesson in the office that he so kindly agreed to take! You were an amazing muso and I loved seeing your stunning photographs. My deepest sympathy and condolances to Mick's family. R.I.P. Mick.

I am so very sad to see you go so suddenly and unexpectedly. We met in New Caledonia where you trained me to be a field assistant for the UoA... I learned so much from you and will be forever grateful... It was all fun and joyful and you became a dear friend... You will be sorely missed by me, by all your friends and family for you were an amazing person with such a good heart... Grumpy for sure, but so loveable and fun! A great musician and a bird/animal lover too! All my thoughts are with you and your family for this very last trip... May you be looked after in the best manner in the worlds beyond....

Mick was one of the world's nice people, a talented and modest man who did good in his life. My condolences go out to his friends and family. I'm sad that Mick didn't get the long and happy retirement he deserved with you all. I remember the man who, loved photography, playing his guitar, was proud of his family and passionate about protecting the environment. The world is a better place for the time Mick spent in it. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to ALL Mick's family and wishing you strength in the coming days to help you through your shocking loss.
Mick and his family - his lovely Mum Cath, were some of the first folks I met when I first came to NZ in 1971. Mick's life has been full and diverse and 'tho we haven't kept in touch constantly, when we did catch up it was always as though it had been just yesterday. Mick you were always the same - cheeky and chirpy and the world will miss you and your talents.
Go well Mick . . hoping that more adventures await you. Love from Gill and Tuan and all the Orbells.
