LUNDY, Michael 'Mike'
Founder of MP Lundy Construction

Peacefully, at home at the age of 78 on June 29, 2015, surrounded by family. Devoted husband to Carol (Black); proud father to Mark
(June), Sean (Michaela), Christian (Kelly), and Colin (Eylie); and their mother, Grace Lundy (Meikle). Loving grandfather to Sara, Liam, Tristan, Shaela Joe, James, and Nico. Predeceased by his parents, Madeline Gillen and Richard Lundy. Brother to Mary (Bill), Joe (deceased) (Jeanette), and Jim (Jane). Mike was born on June 26, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario, and raised in Leaside. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from The Ryerson Institute Technology in 1959. In 1963, he moved to Ottawa to establish a career in the construction industry. In 1967, he founded M.P. Lundy Construction. Over four decades, he led the company to construct many landmark projects around Ottawa. Mike was a proud Kiwanian, having served in the organization for 37 years. He was president of Kiwanis in 1988-89 and was recently honoured the Kiwanis International Walter Zeller Award For Exemplary Community Leadership. He was an active member of the Friendship Force of Ottawa and under the Friendship Force banner, he and Carol traveled the world and hosted many families from abroad in their home. Mike also showed a special dedication to the Youville Center, giving his time and resources tirelessly as a patron and board member to help the organization grow and flourish over the last 25 years.

He was an avid golfer and sailor and had recently completed a sailboat building project with his thirteen year old grandson, Liam. Friends are invited to visit at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway), Ottawa on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 194 Fourth Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. Interment to take place in Toronto at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Mike would appreciate donations be made to the Youville Center, 150 Mann Avenue, Ottawa.
  We honour and cherish his memory and are grateful to all who share our sense of loss at this sad time. Mike will be missed by us and by many.
