Mike, you were such a big influence in my late teens. Your kindness, gentleness, sound advice and humour will be something I always remember you for. You and Liz were a couple I looked up to and and I'm so sad for what she is going through now. I know that Wayne and Linton will be holding a Edge of Tomorrow reunion with you! Love Jennie

Mike had a huge heart and would help anyone. He and Liz were part of the Four Kauri family for years which is how I met him. He will be greatly missed by many in the Mt Albert community.

Mr Hookey was so kind, friendly and helpful. He helped me so much with a project at school. I am so sorry to hear this news,. Zoe J (Marist College). Mike was always, cheerful, friendly, professional and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him to help with in any interaction I had with him at Marist College as a parent and PTFA member. His eyes twinkled with humour and generousity of spirit and that is how I will remember him. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Erin J.
