Mike flatted with myself, Pauline and Grant in Palmerston North in the early 80s after our other flatmate John left university earlier than expected. He slotted right in and we all had a lot of fun together. Very sad to learn of his passing as I am sure the others would be.

Condolences to all the family. I didn't know Mike well, but the last time I saw him at Ardmore in November he was (as usual) extremely friendly and chatty. I have no doubt he'll be sorely missed.

I met Mike taking pictures of my water bomber in The Pas ,Manitoba.I said I liked the emblem of a PBY on his shirt. He told me of the Catalina Club and their Z CAT. I said I flew it as JCV.
Books and videos were mailed to my home. He asked; I saved and travelled to New Zealand. Mike toured me around and we did a Wanaka airshow, then flew back to the North Island in the Z CAT.
It was a big highlight in my life.
Our affection for the ZCAT kept us emailing and every Christmas we would lift a glass to toast our friendship.
This tradition will continue to the end of my days.
