Mike´s mellifluous voice, his way with words and his infectious laugh are priceless memories of times working together at Radio New Zealand. He was a friend and a cherished mentor. He was also thigh-slappingly funny and wonderful company. Never forgotten. My deepest sympathies to Mike´s family.

Mike was one of the best. I enjoyed working with him at RNZ in the 1980s. A true professional. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Mike's family.

Many wonderful memories of Mike at Durham House. (RNZ) He expected professionalism and perfect grammar from the younger journos in the newsroom and we all looked up to him. His favourite saying : “there is a glaring omission in this story !”. He was more than a colleague, he was a friend as well. Sincere sympathies to the family.

Quite simply Mile was one of the good ones. A thoroughly decent, honest and sincere man and I feel very proud and privileged to have been a friend for about 35 years. He will be very sadly missed and all my thoughts and sympathy go to Helen and all of Mike's family.
