Michael GARDINER Obituary

GARDINER, Michael John. Died peacefully in his home of 30 years on Great Barrier Island, on 9th September 2022 aged 84. Eldest son of Noel and Myrtle, brother of Richard (deceased), brother-in-law of Norma and brother of Maryanne (Mummery). Uncle of Scott and Carrie and Olivia. Biological father of Giovanni (deceased) and Lynley. Stepfather to Nicki and Al Cawley. The Gardiner family wish to express their deep gratitude to Nick for his dedication and care for Michael's final weeks. Michael was one of NZ's pioneering surfers with a particular love of Piha, Great Barrier and Taranaki. A private service was held in Tryphena on 12th September.
