Merv you are remembered by all your old Navy mates. Sadly some have led the way ahead of you and others will follow. RIP Merv and our deepest condolences to Whanau and close friends from the Navy Club.

"THERE ARE NO FLOWERS ON A SAILOR´S GRAVE,
NO LILIES ON AN OCEAN WAVE.
THE ONLY TRIBUTE IS THE SEAGULL´S SWEEP,
AND THE TEARS UPON A LOVED ONE´S CHEEK.
FOR MEN WHO GO DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS,
FEAR NOT THE DANGERS OF THE SEA,
NOR THE VIOLENCE AND PERILS SHE MIGHT IMPART.
AS SUNSET DRAWS NEAR AND DAWN BREAKS AFAR,
WE REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE CROSSED THE BAR.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM"

Merv you were one of Life´s special Friends to Jim & June, Caroline & Suzie. You were Jim´s greatest advocate, building trailers, lead for our yachts and always being there to launching. Jim´s scuba tutor. One could not have had a more talented and loyal Friend. Rest In Peace Merv. Always remembered with Love and respect.

The three amigos have lost our number one team leader.
Merv in the last many years we have been mates meeting through our local RSA so many years ago.
Tha battles we endured fighting for our place within the veteran community.
The restoration of the Timaru RSA WW2 25 pounder a project which because of your navy skills and leadership shown proved to be fruitful .
The final battle you were never destined to win.It was time for you to rest.your life's achievements finally gained.
