Mervyn BENNETT Obituary

BENNETT, Mervyn Bruce (Merv). Proud Whangarei son, died in Auckland Hospital while in recovery from surgery. Much loved husband of Michelle, father to Tanya, Kelly and Matt and father in law to Patrick and Ellen. Precious grandfather to Alida, Lucas and Maia. Loved brother in law to Donna and Richard and son in law to Karline. Loved brother of Ian Bennett and Carol Simpson. Due to family travel commitments the funeral will be held on Wednesday 27 March at Purewa Cemetery at 2 pm. Sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Ward 76 Auckland Hospital who gave Merv amazing care in his last days. Merv will be remembered for his gregarious personality, his evident intelligence, his strong opinions and fierce loyalty to those he loved and liked. He lived well. Merve and my Dad Ted MOYLE were best friends. They were very funny together and created loads of laughs sometimes trouble too.
They will be ripping it up in heaven.

Sorry to read this news of my old friend.A talented man,good times from cricket days.The last contact was working on Waiheke Island in the days Merv owned the local newspaper and he would arrive at 5pm at the motel we were managing with his bottle of red.
