Merlin CASKIE Obituary

Just remembered Merlin's name for some reason so looked him up and found his obituary - Merlin taught me to swim about 45 years ago and I have loved swimming since and like another on here have used it to probably save lives.

Condolences to family and friends. I still have clear and fond memories of my time in "Caskie's Comets" and Merlin's firm but fair manner as a coach. In hindsight, us kids must have been challenging to corral but somehow he managed it without getting angry (well, not too angry, anyway). Even though I was very young, I still recall the feeling of jumping into the steaming water early in the morning to train before school (not to mention the team sport of cap-expanding, and wet-towel fights in the changing rooms). Merlin made a difference to many people, and to this day (many decades later) I still swim on a regular basis.

Condolences to Merlin's friends and family. Merlin taught me to swim and I went onto surf life-saving and underwater hockey and enjoyed both immensely. Thank you, Merlin.

Crazy how a name can stimulate a memory of a man so many years later. I have no idea how old i was but thank you Merlin. I have saved the lives of a few at sea now. I love the water and have you to thank for that. Thankyou so much.
