Melody GARD Obituary

Circumstances have reconnected me with memories from a trip to New Zealand in January 2015. We (a group of 3) were lucky enough to discover Melody's wonderful home for a last night in New Zealand. What rich conversation we had over the breakfast table!! ......of her children and grandchildren, from her artistic gifts, to her fencing gifts, discovering the behaviours of her resident tui, to the death of her beloved John.....and discussing the ice cream at Charlie's Ice Cream parlour! I've just seen her obituary now, but the memories are very alive.

Dear Kat, Simon, Tim,

Sadly, I just discovered this morning about Melody's passing. Please accept my belated condolences.
I started communicating with Melody and John way back in the mid 90's. We had made plans to meet either in New Zealand or somewhere in Europe. Unfortunately, after John's untimely and tragic death in Amsterdam, this never happened. Although I continued talking with Melody after that, I have never managed to reach NZ, despite her cordial invitations. It is because our dialog somehow stopped at some point that I've learned of Melody's passing. RIP, dear Melody. I know you were a great much beloved person...

You won't remember Jan and me, although we remember you and your parents fondly - we were neighbours in Arran Road in 1977. I only discovered today about Melody's passing in 2015. Please accept our very belated condolences. John and Melody were two of the finest people we've known.
