Anne Holmes -nee McMinn

May was my Daddy's only sister who emigrated from Newry , Northern Ireland in the early 60's with her family to make a new life for themselves firstly in Australia and then New Zealand. As I was quite young when they emigrated they were always a blurred memory for me being a child at the time. It was always exciting when the postman delivered items with a New Zealand postmark, it reminded me that I really did have family that lived in New Zealand. When Auntie May accompanied by her daughter Mary eventually returned back to Newry for a holiday I along with my family circle met a lady who was very witty, gracious, hard working and eloquent in all her conversations about life the other side of the world. In the years that followed she kept in touch by telephone/letters and returned to visit us, as did her siblings who wanted to revisit the place of their birth which they had been told about. On behalf of my husband Anthony and my family I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Cunningham family circle on the loss of a beloved mother, granny and great grandmother. She will always be in our hearts and we pray that God will embrace you in his arms and give you strength and comfort to face the days ahead.
