Deepest condolences to the Khoo family. He was our family doctor for many years and always managed to make us laugh.
May he "hang loose" now.
He was a great man.

I first met Tony in 1955 in Sydney. The next time we met was in Vancouver in October 1973. He was then practising here, his wife Pat, four sons and two nephews living in the house on West 58th Ave. Mary and I were visiting prior to our immigration, and Tony and Pat literally opened the doors of their home to welcome, feed and educate us about life in Canada, answering all our questions fully.Through them, we met other immigrants from Singapore and Malaya. More than that, we were introduced to the fabulous outdoors, taken to Horseshoe Bay and then to Pender Harbour to fish, using live herring as bait! He even invited me to a clinical meeting at MSJH.
He was so helpful, in so many ways, advising me about re-registration for FMGs'. Indirectly, Tony helped me to find myself a needed internship in Regina.
Later we were to meet frequently in the hospital, lecture dinners, meetings, parties, including his annual house dinners, where he regaled everyone, with jokes, the latest news from KL. (All were advised to STAY COOL, repeatedly.) Tony loved good food, conversations with friends, good scotch, and golf. He loved his annual vacations in KL, playing golf and lunching with old friends, just about daily.
Tony was gifted an exceptional ear for languages. He spoke Malay, a little Tamil, several Chinese dialects - all with impressive accents plus some good mimicry, if called for. He claimed his Cantonese was on par with that of his colleagues from Hongkong, so he could participate fully in the conversation when he played mahjong with them. Sometimes at the lecture dinners when we were overwhelmed by non-stop Cantonese encompassing the table, we would then do our little protest and talk either Malay or Hokkien to each other across the table.
Tony was a popular and appreciated family doctor, very approachable, easy to talk with. Tony and Pat, the pair, made excellent parents, not only to their four sons, but to their two nephews. We were told, often, they were all treated equally. No reason we could see to question that.
In his final years, it got to be a bit trying. And for years, Pat's devotion to him was wonderful to perceive; the daily visits, taking him home for a home-cooked meal, and on and on, week after week, endlessly. In brief, for Tony, a fulfilling life, success as an immigrant, a doctor, a father and a very good uncle. Tony, you have done well, may you now rest in peace.
