Very sad to read this, i was one of the many that grew up in the 70s in te atatu, and knew mrs young through primary school. even years after and into the 50th reunion a few years ago, she still remembered my name. she was someone everyone liked when i went to school, and often manned the sick bay and i remember her as a friendly face when gone into there sick or with an injury.

Ross, My deepest condolences to you and family on the demise of your sweet, kind and loving mother. She was lovingly called Mrs Young by her goddaughter, Sor from Malaysia. Though Sor, my late wife, had since passed on, I can still vividly remember what Sor had shared with me about Mrs Young kindness and compassion.I briefly met you and your mum when you visited us in Penang. I will cherish the sweet memories.John LamPenangMalaysia

Sad news. The end of an era for the many people that went to Rutherford that know Ross and spent many a afternoon stopping at the Young household on the way home from school.
Sympathies to Ross, you were a good son to your Mum
