Matthew was the safest man for so many and he gave me hope that men like him exist. I loved, respected and appreciated him in so many ways. Rest in love my friend

Dearest Matthew - I've hardly met a more joyful soul. One morning he came to my then workplace in Otautahi/Christchurch. He sometimes picked folk up from there, when I asked him, and took them to meetings. On this occasion, bright and early, he arrived, beaming and dancing as usual, looking forward to sharing his/our message with others. After our hug he suddenly produced a totally unexpected bag of chocolate croissants and a big cup of my favourite coffee. He just embodied joy wherever he went. He loved Meredith like no other, and while my heart is currently breaking for her, and the rest of Matthew's families, I know that his legacy of sharing gratitude and joy, and the loving lessons he left behind for all of us, will also be woven through the wefts of this path through grief. Sail on, Matthew. Ruth

RIP - I will remember Matthew as a beautiful human who graced our lives with joy, laughter, care, compassion and love. He shared the universal language of humility and kindness wherever he roamed. His impact lives on in the lives he touched and the message he shared "Love is the Answer."
