Matthew OAKES Obituary

OAKES, Matthew Allen Poito. Suddenly passed away on June 22, 2023, aged 70. Loving husband to Mary Jane, much loved father and father-in-law to Tane and Shannon, Kiwa, Mana and Deb. Adored Grandpa to William and Jackson. Beloved brother to Lawrence, Taku, Albert, Ray (Deceased) and Gary. A passionate golfer, rugby player and family man who was taken too soon and will be greatly missed by many.

Mary Jane and family. I´m so sorry to hear about Matthew´s passing. Matt had a kind heart, and always would take the time to chat when our paths crossed. Our thoughts are with you and the Oakes family.

My deepest sympathies to the Oakes family. Matty was loved and respected by us all in Wisconsin. We loved his visits. We toured NZ in 1994 and Massey was first on the list of matches. It was wonderful to see Matt amongst his rugby mates from the US and NZ. Also, the Massey Maulers toured Wisconsin and Aspen Ruggerfest (Colorado). He will be missed by so many. Rest In Peace brother.
