Mary WOODWARD Obituary

WOODWARD, Mary Daphne (Bobbie) . Passed peacefully on the 14th of July at Sarah Selwyn Hospital. In her 96th year. Dearly loved mother of Matt, the late Anna, Lizzie, and the late Paul. Grandmother of Thomas. Funeral service followed by a reception to be held on Tuesday 25 July at 11.30 am, at St Matthew in the City on 132 Hobson Street. Parking available at the Civic or Sky City Carparks.

Bobbie was a most wonderful Creative Dance teacher in the Mendl tradition. I learned from her from age 7 until about age 15. Not only did she hold a space in which children could express themselves through music and dance, but she was a role model for me. As a dancer herself she was passionate and graceful. As a teacher she was exacting. Imagination could flourish and, as my sister said, they were happy times.

Always enjoyed catching up with Bobby at family gatherings. The family has lost a wonderful inspirational woman who taught us so much about our family heritage. She has left a lasting legacy for the extended family.
