Mary PHILPS Obituary

PHILPS, Mary Anne (nee Smith). Born in Waimate on 15 September 1933, passed away peacefully at Yvette Williams Retirement Village, Dunedin on May 28, 2023; in her 90th year. Beloved daughter of the late James and Bessie Smith, formerly of Waimate and then Dunedin. Beloved mother of Duncan (Auckland), and the late Alastair, dearest sister and sister in law of Michael and Jennifer Smith (Auckland), adored aunt of Holly and Ryan, Summer, and Derwin, great- aunt of Rosa, Archie, Otis, Floyd, and Etta (all of Auckland). Special friend and confidante of many during her long life of service in the nursing profession and the community in Dunedin, Melbourne and elsewhere. Friends are invited to a celebration of Mary's life in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 9am on Saturday June 3, followed by burial in the Waimate Cemetery, arriving at 2.00pm on Saturday June 3.
