I met Mary about 10miles out of Coromandel township when I was riding a horse (with a puppy, Basho, on the saddle) around the peninsula in the 60's. It was getting dark. She packed my stuff in her car , let the horse go in a field (later spoke to the farmer) and took me back to her place, a bath, wonderful hospitality and conversation. Much evolved out of that. You were magic!

My deepest sympathy to all the Foreman family. I have fond memories of Mary and staying at Rings Road when I knew Tim. We'd have fantastic dinners, eat from pottery dishes and have nasturtiums in the salads! Mary made quite an impression on me when I was a young woman. All my love and big hugs to Tim, Ruth, Jane, David and Andrew.

Mary and I attended Auckland Girls' Grammar School at the same time. We then went nursing together, where we enjoyed ourselves greatly. When I got married to John, Mary was my Matron of Honour and sole attendant. After our marriage, John and I stayed in Mary and Bill's flat in Hamilton for a couple of nights, which was the beginning of our honeymoon. Mary and I didn't see each other for some time, but always kept in touch. The times we had together at Piha, Orapiu and other places were always full of fun and laughter. Mary rang me on Saturday saying she was "going to God". I hadn't realised she was so sick. Our sympathy and regards to all the family - Mary was always very proud of you all.

Dear Foreman family, I'm thinking of lovely, gracious Mary and how I always felt inspired after a visit to her in her beautiful Coromandel home and garden. Mary lives on in my mother's house at Tuateawa through her art on the wall and she is in a drawing that Heather did of Mary drawing. I send deepest sympathies to you all from the Lomas family - we knew her a long time and her memory will always be special.
