Mary Evankovich Obituary
Mary M. Evankovich, 93, of Murrysville, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, in her residence. She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Hermine to the late Victor and Angelina Mondale Meschia and had lived in Creighton and Upper Burrell before to moving to Murrysville. A glassworker, she worked for PPG Industries, Creighton, for 46 years before retiring. She was a member of Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Murrysville, and enjoyed bowling, baking and cooking. Surviving are grandchildren Scott and Gena Horrocks and Julie Horrocks Shelby, of Canada; three great-grandchildren; sister Catherine Licko, of Miami Springs, Fla.; nephews John L. (Thelma) Evankovich, of Springdale; James E. (Janet) Evankovich, of Zelienople, and Gary Licko, of Florida, and nieces Mary Catherine Foster, of Holiday Park, Plum, and Mercedes Cherep, of Plum. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Evankovich; a daughter, Gloria Brondino; a son, Air Force Capt. Carl Evankovich; a brother, Earnest Meschia, and a sister, Olga Evankovich. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. A blessing service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 in Mother of Sorrows Church. Burial will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
