Mary DOOLEY Obituary

DOOLEY, Mary Elizabeth. Passed away peacefully on Sunday April 12, 2026, in her 94th year. Much loved, admired and treasured sister and sister-in-law of Father John (deceased), Father Patrick sm, Bridie, and Jim Dolan (deceased), Father James sm and Bernard and Valerie. Loved Aunty Mary of her extended family. Special thanks to Sipa and Mary's carers at Shona McFarlane Rest Home for the generous care and kindness they gave Mary. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Mary in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 59 Waiwhetu Road, Lower Hutt on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 1.00pm, followed by an interment at Taita Lawn Cemetery. Mary's Requiem Mass will be livestreamed, and the link can be found via Gee & Hickton's website under upcoming services. A Rosary Vigil will be celebrated in the above- mentioned church on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 7.30pm. In lieu of flowers you are invited to donate to St Vincent de Paul Society. Donations can be made to 'Society of St Vincent de Paul Wellington Area' via Account Number 02-0576-0017817-00

We were very saddened to hear of Mary´s passing. Our family had a very close connection to the Dooley family through our respective parents Jim ( Mary´s Father) and Jack ( our Father) who were very good friends. Our deepest sympathy to the Dooley family in their sad loss. Mary was highly respected and we remember with respect how she looked after her Father Jim when her mother died. RIP Mary. Greatly admired sister, auntie, and great-aunt of Bridie Dolan (nee Dooley) and Jim (deceased), John and Anna, Kieran and Anna, James and Kim, Susan and Nick Nihotte, and all their children and grandchildren. We are thankful for your special presence in our lives - you inspired us with your determination, joy, wisdom, and faith. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love. May the road rise to meet you, and may gentle winds carry you home. RIP. Our sincere appreciation to Sipa Kiko and all the carers at Shona McFarlane for their genuine love and care for Mary over the last 5 years.
