Mary BROWN Obituary

Mary was such an incredible person. As someone who had a stroke and suffered with aphasia, the language impairment that impacts the way we communicate, she did such a lot for Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora. Mary was especially wonderful in the work she did with our Volunteer Stroke Scheme. Mary was always willing to share her story to volunteers and staff, she attended many training sessions over the years, she was part of our consumer reference group giving us the patient's voice for years, she recorded videos that we use for training others and she told her story regularly both in the tip of the tongue magazine and during training sessions. Mary was always about supporting others with aphasia while also teaching and supporting those of us who work with people who have communication difficulties. Mary will be sorely missed, she was a wonderful human. Rest in peace Mary
