To the Ulenberg family. I offer my sincere and prayerful sympathy on the sudden and unexpected death of Martin. May he be at peace safely in the Lord's arms. I am John's and Esmee's first cousin, Bernadette and visited them frequently when both were alive as did our Aunt, Sister Mary Stanislaus. I met their sons and daughters too at their place and have fond memories of our visits. I hope to attend Martin's funeral tomorrow at Mt Albert too on behalf of the Ulenberg family. God bless and comfort you all at this very sad time. Sister Clare (Bernadette O'Neill )

Martin will be lovingly remembered by all those who uniquely knew him.

To me, he was a deep thinker and feeler who believed in a better Earth. He was also an incomprehensibly generous donator to my fundraiser so that I could move to Wales to study a Masters of Sustainable Architecture.

We had heard of each other through the community and were both excited to finally meet at the EBANZ conference. We immediately connected over our love for Earth Building: our community, our craft, our light forwards, and a greater meaning it gave us that is more easily felt than articulated.

His significant donation was a shocking and immensely beautiful act that gifted me trust. It was a deed so generous that it forced me to believe in myself and continue devoting my life to this purpose we shared.

Martin, you gave me hope.

I am so grateful we got to meet again before I flew away, and I grieve for the loss of the friend and mentor I will not be able to return to Aotearoa to as we had wished. I have no doubt your presence will be missed by many.

You are remembered for your kind heart. You believed a better world was possible and you truly gave all of yourself towards making it happen. Your support undeniably changed my life. Your gentle yet steady impact will live on through all those that you touched.

May your body rest deeply in the earth again.

Lots of love,
Iza
