So sorry to learn about Marleene's death. I was wondering about her and did a google search and was shocked to learn she had died in 2017. RIP Marleene

I met Marleene more than 30 years ago at a British Library visit. She was on a round the world tour of libraries. I still remember her rebuking, mildly but firmly, Maurice Line, then the the great Poo bah of the BL, when he referred to her as coming from the Antipodes I am from New Zealand, the Antipodes are a different set of islands. Anyway we got along so well that we then spent a few days leave touring the South of England. Since then I looked forward to her Christmas card every year. Last year it was late and with sad news but I was still hoping she would beat the disease, such was her spirit. I had actually written this years card before checking the net and finding this. Good bye Marleene flight of angels sing to thy rest...

It was great to meet Marlene at the Special Libraries Association annual conference in Philadelphia in 2016. I enjoyed listening to her talk and speaking with her at various points during the conference. I thought of her and missed her during the 2017 conference in Phoenix. I send my thoughts and prayers for her family.

I always enjoyed spending time with Marleene when I worked at the Maritime Museum. I always will have a great respect and admiration for Marleene's work and she was genuinely a friendly person. It is a shock she is gone.

Farewell Marleene my friend and boss. It's hard to believe I have been working as your volunteer almost 10 years. What a wealth of laughter, support, interest and knowledge we've shared. Each time I go into the library you'll be in my thoughts and it'll be strange not to see your smile greeting me. It's been good to know you. Shelagh

I worked with Marleene at the Maritime Museum for 7 years. She was passionate about her job in the library and archives. She was always ready to help in whatever way she could. She will be missed at the museum after working there 14 years. so sad Marleene. I hope you are in a better place now managing a larger library and archives! RIP mate.

Sadly missing our good friend and ex-neighbour. Your cheerful personality and many achievements were accompanied by our pride and congratulations.
We hoped you would have had time to do so much more.
