Condolences to Marks family. I knew him briefly through Dept of Labour and Worksafe, where his high morality and genuine concern for people (especially the vulnerable and disempowered) really stood out. So sad to hear of his passing and what a loss to his community. I hope his legacy continues with those he so positively influenced through his life and work.

Mark....you will be sadly missed. When i joined WorkSafe, you took me under your wing when we worked together as PSA representatives. You have gone too soon and had so much to give and talked about work with passion and your family with such love and tenderness. God bless.

Kia ora Karen, and whanau.

I had the privilege of working with Mark in the Department of Labour and at WorkSafe New Zealand. He always impressed me as someone who was willing to speak up about what he believed in. I found he was also willing to `agree to disagree“ without taking it personally, he enjoyed a robust discussion and I suspect this also played to his sense of humour which was often evident.

From my experience it was always worthwhile to be in contact with Mark and find out what his views were as he would bring a useful perspective to the issues of the day.

We have also been able to share a good few laughs and discuss family and connections. I know from many of our discussions how important family was to him.

My condolences to you all and best wishes for farewelling Mark later in the week.

May the pipes be a playing to send a special man on his journey.

Arohanui, Dave
