I corresponded with a lady called Marion Towers who lived at 14 Korama Street, Remuera, Auckland 5. She was interested in family history and her link to her ancestors Ann Martindale & John Dickinson who were married in 1791 in Slaley, Northumberland, UK. If this is the same Marion I am deeply sorry she passed away. I still have her letter and e-mails. If this is not the same person then I apologise for the intrusion.Best wishes, Ronnie Teasdale

I had nothing but admiration and respect for this lovely lady who could draw out the best in her pupils as I found in playing a duet on the piano with her.
Marion Towers has left us with
treasured memories of good times gone by that were the building blocks of who we are now.

I have read through these lovely messages and thoughts of Mrs Towers. I too remember the clickety clack of her shoes, her footsteps along the path under the walkway, her deft fingers on the piano keyboard, and her firm but fair ways. There were the uniform checks, the sound of the metronome, and hearing her calling out letters to students in C Block as they sat with their hands covered....keyboard at the ready. I never actually had her as a teacher but she was always there with a kind and encouraging word or two for a quiet shy girl from Mapiu.
When my dad went to TKHS she was Miss Dundas - she gave a great deal of her life to teaching.
Thanks Mrs Towers.
My condolences to the family.

Mrs Towers was such an incredible pianist and typing teacher-she took no prisoners in class and expected excellence. The Kane family is saddened to hear of Marion's passing. You were a very loyal and dear friend to Pat and Mary during dad's working years in Te Kuiti, and in later life in Hamilton. You also provided great encouragement to our children with their music. You will be sadly missed. David and Sharron Kane and family

When I learned touch typing from you, little did I know how valuable that skill would be in today's world where we constantly communicate via the keyboard. Your work has touched many. Maree Jeurissen (Penny)

Thank you for teaching me how to type, you were a hard teacher but i would never have learnt had you not been. If only I had realised back then you just wanted us to succeed.
I remember your classes more than any other.
Rest in peace Mrs Towers.

Mrs Towers - the little woman with a big presence. Strict yet fair. Passionate about teaching and bringing out the best in her students. A very good typing teacher, for those who chose to listen and learn, and type to the beat of the metronome. A fantastic pianist and valuable member of our orchestra.
Rest in peace.

My typing teacher in 80's, she would play the piano music and we would all have to type in time and if one was out of sync she would find you quicker then you could hear her coming up behind you. A lady that was strict on our uniforms, didn't appreciate back chat. Showed the character of the woman she was. Rest In Peace Mrs Towers

I'll always remember Mrs Towers for the strict but fair and loveable teacher she was. I probably wouldn't be the Law Clerk I am now if she hadn't taught me my skills as a typist. I'll always have respect for her. My condolences to family and friends.
