Marie HAUMU Obituary

HAUMU, Marie Christina (previously Sowerby, nee Horgan). WREN RNZN. Passed away peacefully on 15th September 2025 at Kingswood Resthome, Matamata. Loved wife of the late Willie. Loved mother of Tania (deceased), Jason and Daniel. Dealy loved nana of 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of Kingswood Resthome. A service for Marie will be held at Broadway Funeral Home, 10 Short St, Matamata on Tuesday 23rd September at 1pm.

Our Marie will be greatly missed by myself and Dale, you were our big sister for most of our lives. You looked after me during primary and high school holidays and taught me so much; especially how to be a loving mum. Dale was sixteen when you hoped your arms to her as well. Our hearts go out to Jason and Daniel, all the grand, and great-grandchildren.

We met 54 years ago my friend and have loved and respected each other from that moment on. I am glad that you are at peace now my lovely but oh how you are missed and always will be. Words truly cannot convey my feelings. The tears run fast and free for you. One last coffee, cuddles, laughter and shortbread should be shared my friend forever. I love you Marie
