Maria McDONALD Obituary

McDONALD, Sister Maria (O.P.) Passed away peacefully on 21 October 2012. Much loved and respected member of the Congregation of New Zealand Dominican Sisters, in the 70th year of her religious profession. Greatly loved sister and sister-in-law of Eileen and the late Patrick Kearney (Oamaru), Joseph and Shona McDonald (both deceased) (Whenuapai), Kevin McDonald (Glenfield) (deceased), Patrick and Noelene McDonald (Orewa), Bernard McDonald (Tauranga). Very special aunt of all her nieces and nephews. Founding Principal of St Dominic's College, Henderson. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Dominic's College Chapel, 29 Rathgar Road, Henderson on Saturday 27 October at 9.30am, the funeral then leaving for the Waikaraka Park Cemetery. Vigil Rosary will be recited at the above College Chapel on Friday 26 October at 4pm. May her dear soul rest in peace. Requiescat in pace.

Sister Maria was always Mother Attracta to me. She taught me French, Latin and History. She made History the most interesting subject....it was like being told a story and you wanted to know how it all ended. She deserved better students to teach really. It must have so often felt like a thankless task. Rest in peace now Sister.
