Margaret's cousin, Joan Cavanagh, died in 2016. Her daughters remember Margaret very well, especially when she lived in Te Awamutu and was the local plunket nurse. Margaret had a flat in Alexander Street and we would sometimes call in on her on our way to or from the school bus depot. Brendan, Gregory and Justine, we are thinking of you at this sad time. Our great grand parents, John and Hannah, bequeathed us a long line of illustrious forebears when they established the Hickeys of Te Namu starting with Mary (Mother Domitille) in 1882. They would be proud to know that their great grandchildren have followed on from their parents and grandparents as scholars, educationalists, QCs (one a female), surgeons, writers, poets, artists, missionaries, teachers, farmers, exemplary parents, human rights campaigners and important figures in public life.

With sympathy, Anne, Christine, Mary, Barbara, Gabrielle and Jane Cavanagh
