Margaret LAMB Obituary

I learned of Margaret's death only today. She was without any question the most inspirational teacher I ever had, wise in the human as well as the academic sense, gently supportive, invariably kind. She helped to make my university days a time of such memorable intellectual excitement. In the last almost forty years since our paths diverged I have frequently found myself acknowledging privately my indebtedness to Margaret. It is with much sadness that I do so belatedly and more publicly now. Geoffrey, Richard, Caroline and Robert have my heartfelt sympathy in the loss of a wife and mother whose goodness and dignity and scholarship were so exceptional.
